    went to practice

Sunday, June 22, 2008, 10:55 PM EST [General]

wound up bowling in a league that they have up there . working on the release and looking at some ball reactions with the new release. it is obviously a shinny ball night. looked at the gamebreaker and rival during practice but settled on the paradim to start with swinging it a little 280 nice reaction out of it ....second game put it away cause I'm not learning anything throwing strikes like that . ball change tried the rival but it was a little touchy tried the gamebreaker but same thing or worse. went to the locker and got out the action and played a little straighter ok reaction but still not what I wanted 193 ... then looked at the AMF orbit extreme a ball I picked up used and drilled to use on toasted lanes and I liked what it gave me 254 with a couple of bad pitches in there . over all I was pleased with the practice. once again the film really made me make changes that are going to pay off both physically and in lane play

    camp good bowling some better

Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 08:44 AM EST [General]

well we had our 5th bowling camp and I feel it went over very well. we had 31 student bowlers and things went just as we expected....or as close as we should have expected. it seems every year the kids are getting younger and with that a different developmental approach to the camp. we spent three days on arm swing and walking with most of the kids because thats what they needed. fortunately we have a great group of coaches who were able to adapt to this. anyway another great camp they all improved and we will get a lot of feed back over the next few weeks about the next milestone in their games I am sure.

now on to my game, I have been working on straightening my wrist out after a lifetime of loading up with it. doing much better at reading the lanes with the added benefit of the ball rolling through the pocket like a mac truck and I get to move back right a little which in my old age has become an issue (lower ball speed compared to the rev rate (note to self ....the free arm swing can really free up with the wrist position as I don't have to hit it as hard to get the ball to turn the corner, it is rolling around the corner so changing balls becomes easier as there is a bigger difference between the ball reactions)

oh well , be good, bowl well and stay cool it's going to be a hot summer

Video is a scary thing, but a must to improve swing and rolling the ball rather than throwing the ball.

I have done the same thing several times... by reviewing old videos.. I try to shoot some every 2-3 months of myself.
Did you try that Triax spare system?

Thanks for the comments on my site, yes it is nice to get the first 300 out of the way, in all a very strange night as I bowled only 180 average on the league just before the main league (and that is a 9-pin tap league), but then came the serious league and I was in another world, I did not miss the pocket in the first game, got 4 weak 10 pins in the game, so I decided to change ball for the 2nd game for something with a little more finish in the back end (game 1 was NoMercy, Game 2&3 RotoGrip RS-X), game 1 was 236, then the 300 in game 2 and started the game 3 with a double (to make it 15 in a row), then left a 7 and a 2 pin in the following frames picked the 7, missed the 2 on frame 4, and from that point I only got a 10 pin and a 9 pin in the rest of the game, striking on the rest for a 225.

Thanks Lee. When I left the 8-10, it looked good to me. And in the next frame (the 7th) I left a solid 10 pin. Even though I thought it looked good, I needed to either come in a little higher on the head pin, or with more drive. I moved up on the approach approximately 8 inches and got strikes in the 8th, 9th and the first ball of the 10th frame. The second ball of the 10th frame, I came in to high and left the 4 pin.

Thanks again for commenting on my site.
