ok lets set the record straight it wasn't me. I didn't do it. not even close...but.
so school is bowling again and I'm coaching the team again this year and I know I always say it but this year we might be more talented than ever before. sort of anyway. last year we were deeper but the first 5 this year are really good all will probably bowl in college. two weeks in to the season and we are not looking at losing even a game not to mention a match. in the school system we are in we have 4 bowlers bowl a game and then drop the low score. we dropped a 234 the first week and a 201 this week. now the 234 was at the easy house and the 201 was at the hard one, I thought that was significant. any was we have 5 kids averaging from 206 to 235. once again it will become a problem managing the fragile ego's that bowlers seem to have.
now on to the really cool stuff. my son went off a couple saturdays ago. in his youth league he started throwing strikes and not much else. front nine first game got soft on the first pitch in the tenth (nerves) left the 2,4,5 picked it up then threw the next 22 in a row got tapped 7 pin picked it up then got tapped again the series was 277,300,278 for a impressive 855 series. WOW is all I can say the front 9 in each game. not bad for the south paw.
my bowling has not been so good lately but I believe I've worked out some equipment issues that should help open the lanes for me
to all my friends I must apologize for not keeping in touch , I have been busy but I'll try
well mon nite came and went the team split points but it all happened in the last game. first off our head mechanic drives me nuts. this summer there was a three man league where he put out a shot that was kick it down the lane easy. now do not get me wrong I am not wanting that for the winter league as I could never bowl in a tournament again. but he put that shot out for 16 weeks consistently. last week we bowled on a shot that when we were done I told the guys "yes he is not going to give us the summer shot but that one is fair. well much like last year the shot last night was completely different. and every one there was complaining.
it's not that I mind trying to figure out what the shot is from week to week I just hate to listen to everyone else complain. it takes the fun out of bowling for me when "grown men cry". you see I feel that a fair shot is what you need for a mens league or any other league for that matter since these guys are paying a premium for the lane time (linage). and more important than that the shot should be consistent from week to week. maybe change it 2 or 3 times during the season but not every week. most of them are not tournament bowlers they just want to have a good time kick the ball down the lane and throw back some beer. low stress bowlerg for fun. I think that the mechanic takes it personal when we come out and shoot 660's
back to me I start out the night in practice and notice the change of the lane condition where we played last week was flooded. so I spend a few pitches finding the breakpoint including 3-4 frames of the first game. ball change and angle to pocket where all needed to start getting carry the whole time the team we are bowling are ahead of us ( we give up alot of handicap for a "Mens" league. going into the 10th frame they make marks they win . but... there third bowler chops then the forth bowler splits and it's on. now I bowl 3rd and wayne bowls forth we have to throw 6 to win I get up and bury my three and wayne does likewise. daggers to the hearts of the other team as you can see it in there eyes(people take great pride in beating us).oh yea I had 220
nest game we start throwing strikes in bunches 257 and we win that one though they threw one at us that time.
then the break down occurred. it started at the end of the first game and I made the adjustment but the second one changed the angle to the pocket so much that carry went away for all of us I was high with 196 every one else was 20-30- 50 pins below me. not only did we loose the game ut we lost series as well. that one was no fun but hopefully we got that one out of our system and next week we can come in and whack em again. yes we bowl on labor day so the cookout is in the parking lot oh yea and you'all are invited see ya next week.

Well the winter season started on monday night and bowling was just so so. Started out with a couple of splits and wound up with a 179. Got settled in and threw the next 9 then lost the ball off my hand and left a wash out picked it up and got count 275. The next game I just couldn't get it going but stayed clean for a 205 . 659 ok for a start we won 24 points in the new point system the league is using. we bowl in thirds and the second third is doubles and team scoring then the final third is singles and team scoring. some of the guys wanted to mix it up a bit .
really going to try relaxing this year and just make quallity shots keeping the game as simple as possible since I have a tendency to make things to complicated with hand positions and all. so this year i will keep the hand soft the swing straight and read the ball reaction and adjust accordingly. wish me luck
oh yea if you get a chance listen to the tunes on this page do so. when I write these blogs I just love to listen to them (thanks BK).
well george asked me to sub in the wed nite trio league, and I'm glad I did. started out playing to far right but moved by the third frame and commenced to light it up with 269,238,277,240=1024.
that was fun it's been a while since I hit 'em like that every time carry went away I moved to just the right place without having to play around and threw bunches. not that I'm bragging
this tell you where your breakpoint should be on the different patterns for greatest chance to carry strikes( or at least hit the pocket) between those angles is a exit point or a channel to the pocket.
